I still like Rider's set up. Good stuff, a single sub, but a good ported enclosure will make up and the sub has a high xmax, more money for fronts when using fronts only, and amps are decent, and knuconceptz has quality wires for a lot less than any where else (because it is all they sell). I'll do a little research and come up with some thing when I have a little more time.

Heres what I came up with. I really like this idea got me rethinking my set up. All prices came from onlinecarstereo.com, there is Free shipping on all right now. Enjoy.

    Headunit
    - JVC KDSX780 (129)
    •Runnnig total 129•
    Speakers (Front/Rear)
    - (F) Kenwood KFC-P683C (119)
    - (R) Kenwood KFC-P603 (109)
    • Running total 348•
    Subwoofer
    - (1) Infinity Perfect 10.1 (159)
    • Running total 507•
    Enclosure
    - Local Plastic/Wood (50)
    • Running total 557•
    Capactor
    - Lighting Audio 1.0 Farad (79)
    • Running total 636•
    Amp
    - Kicker KX600.4 (259)
    •Running total 895•

I didn't price out the wiring kits or other wires/RCAs need. I would nickel and dime it at Radio Shack. But with 105 left over This should be no problem. Also I can't believe prices now. I paid about 1200 through some friends and my signature tells you what I have.

well, after some thinking and 8 beers i've made my decisions option one is for keeping the stock HU. option 2 is for an after market HU.

    Option 1:
    power requirements:
16 feet of 4 guage knukonceptz power wire.
4 feet of 4 guage ground wire.
    total $20 http://www.knukonceptz.com/search_re...btnSearch.y=10
positive and negative battery terminals from lightning audio.
    total $40 http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/light...terminals.html
ANL inline fuse holder from knukonceptz.
    $20 http://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.asp?product_id=FH20
either a 100 or 150 amp ANL fuse depending on requirements.
    $6 http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/lightningaudiofuses.html
two 4 guage ring terminals, one for grounding the battery up front, one for the amp.
    $2
    http://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.as...ct_id=RT4516BK

    main equipment:
    focal components up front.
    $230 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/carau....asp?sku=11705
    elemental design 10K.14.
    $125 http://www.edesignaudio.com/ep/kseries.htm
    avionixx AXT 800.4 amp.
    $285 http://www.edesignaudio.com/ep/amps.htm

    misc accessories:
    adapter plate for components.
    $8 http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/SCOSA68
david navone 2 channel LOC, so fading to the front doesn't effect the sub.
    $29.50 http://www.davidnavone.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=N-7V
2 meter RCA's from LOC to splitter.
    $5 http://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.asp?product_id=KLA2M
    2 splitters.
    $5
speaker wire. 24 feet, so the front channels can be run to the LOC, then another 12 feet is used to run from the amp back to the front speakers.
    $1.40 per foot, $33.60 total http://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.as...t_id=KAR124BLS
6 feet of 10 guage speaker wire for sub.
    $1.15 per foot, $6.90 total http://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.as...ct_id=KAR10BLS
    sub zone sealed box H-101.
    $50 http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/subzo...sub_boxes.html

    i think that's about it
grand total for option 1=$866 before shipping a lot of it is shipped for free. if after shipping there is still a little over $100 left, i'd highly recomend the coustic XM-7 for $106 https://www.caraudioexpert.com/produ...productID=2463
or stepping up to the O-series subwoofer

    option 2: replace the HU
here are the changes from option 1:
12 feet rather than 24 feet of the bi wire speaker wire. $16.80
2 sets of 5 meter RCAs.
    $14 http://www.knukonceptz.com/detail.asp?product_id=KLS5M
    no LOC
    dash pocket.
    $8 http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/SCOMA1537B
    wiring harness.
    $5 http://www.sounddomain.com/shop/item.pl?sku=SCOMA03B
    pioneer DEH-P3500 HU.
    $145 https://www.caraudioexpert.com/produ...productID=3522
    knukonceptz battery terminals.
    $24 http://www.knukonceptz.com/search_re...&btnSearch.y=8
the total for option 2 should be $951.70 before shipping, which could possibly be over $1000 after shipping, but it'll be close. if needed the components can be changed out for a lower priced unit, such as the http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/carau....asp?sku=12638

i would have recomended the us amps like rider69, as well as the CDT components, but since he already did, i chose to use other brands, so there is variety in this challenge

I have been trying to come up with some other options but the price on those items is almost too hard to beat. Besides that, I am not sure that onlinecarstereo.com is an authorized vendor, their prices are pretty damn good though.

    Subwoofer: Kicker Solo-Baric L5 S12L52 $250, Crutchfield

    Sub Box: SubZone HK-121LQ $60, Thezeb.com

yeah, the CDT's and US acoustic amps are a hell of a good deal that's why i had my friend get the components, a USX600D, and a USX4065 can't beat that deal not to mention the fact that those amps are very efficient, so there is little power consumption. i've heard different things about onlinecarstereo being an authorized seller. usually it's brand specific

I don't know if it was this vendor or another internet vendor, but I emailed them asking about whether they were authorized and of course, no reply!! Do they sell JL Audio? If so that is who I emailed. If you go to Tweeter.com, they will flat out say "Not available for online purchase for JL" and of course JL's infamous 90 day warranty if you install it. It's like you are paying for the warranty to have it done at their authorized dealers. I had another bad exp. with JL vendors, but won't go in to it. It turned me off of their products because of the service. Long story though.

Jl has no internet dealers and there is only a 90 warrenty if the vendor refuses you the one year warrenty do to improper installation.

    THese are good setups guys.
I will have to keep the link to this thread on my clip board to constantly direct newbie's here.

Problem is...after a while, the prices will change and there will be other stuff available. Althought the idea of what you could get for $1000 is good to know.

BTW, We are still waiting to see your setup for $1000!?!
